Rest of the Story

Yesterday we talked about the standard we are given for what we ingest whether what we watch, read, or hear...and I know that most of you will have a hard time with it because it is a very exacting and stringent standard...but maybe I should quote this:

Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads
to destruction, and many they are that enter in thereby.   For narrow is the gate,
and straitened is the way, that leads unto life, and few they are that find it.
        (Mt.7.13,14)

So many are living their lives apart from the knowledge of God, so that it does not even occur to them that God demands a standard from us far beyond what they might suppose, but then when they are confronted with it, they go into shock and disbelief, saying to themselves, 'Who could ever do that?!'   But such an attitude will lead to disaster.  Consider what Jesus said again:

And that servant, who knew his lord's will, and made not ready, nor did according to
his will, shall be beaten with many stripes; but he that knew not, and did things
worthy if stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes.   And whomsoever much is given,
of him shall much be required: and to whom they committed much, of him will
        they ask the more.
  (Mt.Lk.12.37ff)

Once you know the truth, you are obliged to do it, else you will bring judgment upon ourselves, and if you are to be judged, then you are not saved by any means.
Being a disciple of Jesus Christ is not easy, but it is a narrow way, and straightened way; if we obey, then we will not only have a bright future, but we will experience peace, and joy, and confidence toward God which the rest of the world will never know.
So do not be among those who fall away unto destruction, but be among the few who have the courage to go all the way unto the saving of the soul.
